FOGA 2021

The FOGA conference series aims at advancing the understanding of the working principles behind Evolutionary Algorithms and related Randomized Search heuristics. It is a premier event to discuss advances in the theoretical foundations of these algorithms, corresponding tools and frameworks suitable to analyze them, and different aspects of comparing algorithm performance.

FOGA2021 will be an virtual event.
Yet, we will do our best to provide a pleasant and exciting conference experience.

Submission guidelines

The tabs below provide information concerning the preparation and submission of conference papers. Further, the review criteria are outlined and accepted papers will be presented after decisions are final.

Authors should submit their papers consistent with the alternate 2-column ACM SIG style file "sigconf" by the deadline (May 23, 2021).

Authors are required to submit their electronic papers in PDF format.

  • Latex/Word templates and class files can be obtained at www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template
  • Collaborative LaTeX authoring is available via the Overleaf platform
  • 15 pages maximum (including references)
  • Postscript (ps) files or any other format will not be accepted
  • Over-length papers will be rejected without review

Submissions must be sufficiently self-contained to allow for a complete understanding of all the explanations given. Yet, authors are welcome to provide an appendix with supplemental material, e.g. full proofs, additional figures, or examples for the review process only. The reviewers won’t be required to look at this supplemental material.

For each submission, at least the presenting author is required to register and attend the conference.

The proceedings will be published by ACM Press and will be finalized before the conference starts. In contrast to previous FOGAs, we will provide “at-conference”  proceedings (instead of “post-conference”).

Instructions for camera-ready papers (deadline on July 25, 2021) will be available in due time.

The review process is double blind.

  • That is, in order to make blind reviewing possible, authors must take measures to ensure that your identity is not easily revealed from the submission itself.
  • Authors must omit their names and affiliations from the submitted paper.
  • Please include the submission number in the author field of your submission, and refer to your prior work in a neutral manner (For example, use “XYZ et al. state” instead of writing “we state”).
  • It is acceptable to submit work that has been presented in public or has appeared on ArXiV, provided the submission itself is anonymized.
  • Similarly, reviewers are demanded not to reveal their identities within the paper reviews.

Selection criteria include

  • originality of ideas,
  • correctness,
  • clarity,
  • significance of results, and
  • quality of presentation.

The review process will include a rebuttal opportunity for authors to see the reviews of their papers and to respond to technical questions raised by the reviewers before discussion starts within the Program Committee.

The decision of the Program Committee will be final and cannot be appealed.

The list of accepted paper is available here.
